About this object

Owen gun bayonet, mark two. "Bottle opener". Metal blade and tang; wooden handle with traces of green paint on handle. Handle fixed to tang with three metal rivets. Surface of the blade pitted (has been oiled). Sharpened one side.
Designed by Lysaght's engineer, Mr G. Wardell; this was kept by Mr Wardell, and used by him as a pot plant weeder.

Has some corrosion and worn wooden handle.

Made in 1943 in Port Kembla.
