About this object

Brass cigarette lighter, inscribed with decorative 'H' and 'Somme 1918'. The user made the spark come in contact with a wick by turning a flint wheel.
Rectangular shape made of brass with removable lid. On lifting lid, flint wheel is exposed as well as a small raised opening which held a wick. Decorative engraving on one side with initial 'H' across both parts of the lighter. 'Somme' and '1918' are engraved in smaller writing.
