Parts 1-2: two sheets of white lined paper, handwritten in blue ballpoint ink, dated 15-7-79, thanking her for the card, letter and wishes. He discusses businesses in Newcastle - Sperlings, Caldwells, Woolworths, and the motel in Steel Street. Also discusses the Dept of Repatriation home he lives in, the gardens and the therapy he receives for the problems with his fingers, and the arrangements for the homes for returned servicemen.
