The Society for the Preservation of the Artifacts of Surgery and Medicine (SPASM) is a group of volunteer members who have a keen interest in portable heritage items and memorabilia related to nursing and medicine.
If nurses, doctors, chemists or other allied personnel used it and it can be moved around, we just might collect, cherish, catalog and display it.
What began as items, used as a teaching collection, within the Anaesthetic Department, of what was then Lidcombe Hospital, has grown over time. Now all kinds of items used by surgeons, anesthetists, general practitioners, pharmacists, pathologists and nurses have been added to our collection.
If you would like to join our society we would be pleased to hear from you. If you would like to join us on the 4th Monday or 2nd Saturday for a few interesting hours of cataloging, cleaning and chatting you would be most welcome.
We also supply historical items for filming in Sydney.
We hope you take time to view a little taste of our collection on this website. Or you might like to look at these other websites:
