About this object

Grimwade's quick cooker:
07087/1: Glazed ceramic lid with very slight curve. In the centre a slight rise surrounds an 18 mm hole which fits over central cylinder of the bowl. The lid has a short vertical lip and a raised line circle 15 mm from the lip on the underside.
07087/2: A ceramic bowl with a central cylinder/ flue to conduct heat to the centre of the pudding or meat.
The lid is tied to the bowl with string and the pot is put into a pan of water, raised to the boil and set to simmer. A piece of pastry or bread can be used to cover the hole of the flue to make it airtight. The pudding cooks in a dry, hot environment in the pot. Patented in the Edwardian era.
