About this object

Two cast steel open work scroll end pieces, scroll forms letter 'W' . At base of each end piece are two small steel wheels. End pieces joined at base by steel rod with treadle plate fixed to centre. Treadle plate is cast steel open work in shape of two (2) footprints with letter "W" between. Plate connects by steel rod to circular spoked steel wheel mounted on one of the end pieces. Rectangular polished and stained wooden table top is bolted onto top of end pieces. Table top has single sliding drawer mounted below. Table top supports cast steel, semi circular sewing arm operated by driving band (missing) to circular wheel under table top. Chrome top wheel for driving band and chrome square work platform pierced with hole for needle. Painted black.
