Whanganui has a national art gallery, private galleries, regional museum, war memorial hall, libraries including a specialised heritage library, public art and memorials and guided tours. The district has a beautiful river and is based on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand. The climate is one of the most temperate climates in the world and has cafes and restaurants. The district is the only place where hot glass may be studied at UCOL, a tertiary institution.
