Blues; Roberta Jane Stone (Unknown); 1970; 1656

The Phillips Museum of Art, Franklin & Marshall College

About this object

We know little about the origins of "Blues," in which the compositional elements simultaneously evoke the musical rhythm and a face. We do know from correspondence that the donor, James D. Cotton, gave the work to the college while the artist's sister, Julie Stone, was attending F&M. Julie Stone graduated in 1977.
