About this object

Linocut, 'Plough', by Sybil Andrews, 1961. This print is one of a group in which Andrews retrospectively explores, in a modernist idiom and from a Canadian perspective, the rural Suffolk of her childhood. Here the drastically simplified colour scheme combines with the stark geometry of the ploughed furrows to create a landscape which borders on the abstract.
