About this object

Mincer; a large iron food mincer. It belonged to John and Margaret Taylor of Mataura. John was a Scotsman who arrived in New Zealand in 1876. He worked first as a shepherd and then as a butcher in Dunedin before seeing the potential in exporting frozen rabbits. In 1893 he started a rabbit export depot in Mataura.
