About this object

A B&W photograph of the Diggers race meeting, Hughenden, October 1967. The image shows brand new starting stalls with horses ready to race. This was the first race to use the stalls, which were a joint venture of the Diggers, Amateur & Jockey racing clubs. They were built by the Brown brothers of "Bogunda" & welded by John Phillips with help from Frank Gimbert and Jim Large.

Standing at the far end of the stalls is John Phillips.
