About this object

White glazed oval shaped teapot featuring a transfer colour picture of a view looking north from St Thomas' Church tower and wording underneath 'PORT MACQUARIE FROM CHURCH TOWER'. Spout, rim and handle have decorative gold edging.

Purchased by Alfred and Gwen Mussett in July 1939 whilst on their honeymoon. The couple married at Gladesville, Sydney on 13 July 1939 and set out on a motoring honeymoon. They travelled via the Pacific and New England Highways and collected souvenirs along the way, including this one. The souvenirs were not displayed or used but retained as keepsakes of their honeymoon.
