NSW Elector's Right Residential Qualification issued to Emmeline Ann Everingham [1861-1948] of Ballengarra for the Hastings and Macleay Electoral District, Port Macquarie Division. The document is numbered '861267' and dated 30 June 1904. It features a decorative scroll with the words 'Sic fortis Etruria Crevit' the NSW badge and a version of the Advance Australia emblem.
In 1902, the first Commonwealth Parliament granted the right to vote to men and women who were British subjects and 21 years or older. This right was free of property qualification.
Emmeline Ann Everingham (nee Nixon) was born at Ghinni and after her marriage to George Richard Everingham in 1886 resided at several locations on the Mid North Coast of NSW. She died at Taree, aged 87 years.
