About this object

Small oval silver medal with ornate ring top suspension, awarded to George William Edwards [1856-1939] for his collection of foreign stamps at the Port Macquarie and District Agricultural and Horticultural Society Show held 3 & 4 March 1887. It was the town's third annual show and had been postponed due to floods. Medal features cast images of a horse, cow and sheep, and agricultural implements including plough, rake, shovel and scythe.

George Edwards was born at Port Macquarie and became the municipality's first town clerk in June 1887. He retired from the role in 1928.
