Peeling Paint on Wall; Siskind, Aaron; 1949; 1977:0017:0002
Peeling Paint on WallAbout this object
Aaron Siskind was an American photographer who documented depression era New York City and is credited with influencing the abstract expressionist movement of the 20th century.
Siskind's abstract photographs from the late 1940s and early 1950s reject the third dimension and belie the notion that photography was tied exclusively to representation. This image was taken in Jerome, AZ and is a close cropped view of peeling paint on a wall.
