About this object

Coloured postcard entitled "Caroline Bay & Harbour, Timaru, N.Z." from the A.A.W. Co. series, circa 1909.

The image is taken from the terraces above the tearooms looking south-east over Caroline Bay towards the harbour. In the right foreground are the Gibson Steps, while the rear of the Tearooms is on the left. A large crowd appears, largely focused around the Band Rotunda. Several vessels in the harbour appear to be decorated for a gala occasion, possibly the coronation George V.
