About this object

The first stage of the progressive award scheme that Scouts followed from 1907 to 1967 both here in New Zealand but also throughout the British Commonwealth, the Second Class badge was worn on the left sleeve. This display has 14 varieties, from early handmade on felt, to woven on ribbon, and backed and bound versions, which show variation in manufacture, material, and colour shades. The dark blue versions were for Sea Scouts.
