About this object

A small diary, with a flap, dated 1916. Belonged to D.R.Logan Balderston which contains information on....
Logan attending various sheep and cattle sales held at Kaiwaka, Wellsford, Waiwera and Warkworth. Newspaper clippings of people he knew, who died in the 1918 influenza epidemic 'Spanish Flu', are found at the back of the diary.The diary also contains notes of cattle droving to local saleyeards as well as to Otahuhu, Auckland. He worked with Ernie Sheppard droving cattle to Auckland along Orewa Beach to the Sheppard's property in Otahuhu in 1917. This property is now Kings College (2016.) Further notes include road construction during 1924, contracts, wages, tallies, and calculations. Well worn.

David Richard Logan Balderston (known as Logan) b 1889 d 1968, married Frances Ann Balderston nee Leslie (known as Tottie) b 1887 d 1962. They had 8 children. His professions included farming, droving, forestry, and road construction. He was involved in local Dairy Companies, politics (member of the Natiional Party) and Farmers Union. They lived at Kaiwaka.
