Mr & Mrs Arthur Moon on their wedding day

About this object

Arthur married Janet McFarlane, from the Isle of Skye, who had trained as a nurse in Glasgow. She spent some years nursing in the Australian outback before becoming matron of a convalescent hospital at Silverstream in Wellington. They had one son, Keith, who was killed while serving in the R.N.Z.A.F. in World War 2. In 1950, Mrs Moon built a church in memory of her son. It is known as the Moon Memorial Methodist Church.
