About this object

WW1 souvenir cushion cover sent from Egypt by Thomas Sterling to his mother Emily. Made from satin and printed with a colour picture of the Sphinx & Pyramids, a man on a camel and a woman. In the border around are black and white photographs of allied leaders and there corresponding flags; clockwise from top, France with Raymonde Poincare, United Kingdom with King George V, Russia with Tsar Nicholas II, King Nicola of Montenegro, Belgium with King Albert I, Egypt with Sultan Hussein Kamal, Italy with Vittorio Emmanuel III. 'Souvenir of Egypt' and 'F III PEGNI Cairo' is printed at the bottom. Edged with green embroidered mesh ribbon, calico backing.
