About this object

One of three Ferguson tractors used by Sir Edmund Hillary’s Ross Sea Party that formed part of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition. On 4 January 1958, this party, including this tractor, was the first to reach the Pole overland using motor vehicles.
