About this object
Speech typed out on a piece of paper. It reads,
Brethren I rise to give you the toast of ANZAC.
The word ANZAC came into being just on 1/2 a century ago.
Two young countries, Aust. & N.Z. became of age on the fields of battle, supporting their Mother Country- England.
They proved their worth in battle against sometimes hopeless odds. Their soldiers exhibited outstanding Bravery & Dogmatic Tenacity in the hopeless attack on such places as Gallipoli.
It is today openly admitted that Gallipoli was a political or Military blunder. But we are not concerned about that.
Only that our small countries became renowned for their Valour as soldiers and around the world the an, ANZAC was born.
During the last war the younger generation strived to continue in the footsteps of their forefathers and live up to this Heritage of Valour.
They performed with credit, and are called Anzacs in a lesser light.
In years to come, no doubt our sons will be called to remember this Heritage of 50 years ago.
Brethren I ask you to rise to the toast of ANZAC."
