Name/Title
Cap, Adrian Stoop England Cap 1905
About this object
Adrian Stoop is considered one of England’s greatest rugby players. He was awarded this cap the first time he played for England in 1905. Unlike football, where international players receive a cap for every match, a rugby player only receives one for their first international match. For this reason a rugby player’s cap is often a highly prized possession. Stoop represented England a total of 15 times during his career. An influential figure in London rugby, he played for Harlequins and was President of the club for 29 years between 1920 and 1949. Harlequin’s current home ground is named after him.
