An exciting journey through the history of rugby…
From humble beginnings at Rugby School through to modern-day professionalism, the World Rugby Museum has it all and boasts the biggest collection of rugby memorabilia in the world. It’s all here at Twickenham Stadium where a Stadium Tour provides the perfect complement to your Museum visit – and it’s closer than you think at less than 30 minutes by train from central London.
And it’s not just for rugby nuts, the whole experience has something for everyone (there’s even a scrummaging machine where you can test your strength) and promises an interactive journey through the history of the world game. The Museum’s many paintings, many hours of match footage and original pieces of playing kit help tell the story of how a schoolboy game became the internationally renowned sport it is today.
On a Stadium Tour you’ll learn how ‘the cabbage patch’ became Twickers and get the all-important look inside the England dressing room. Sit in the seat of your favourite player; take a drink from the magic fountain (we’ll tell you why when you get there) before running out of the players’ tunnel, imagining 82,000 people cheering you on…
We cater for all walks of life, nationalities, ages and abilities and promise an enjoyable day out for everyone. The Twickenham Stoop, home to NEC Harlequins rugby club, is just a five minute walk away. And when you’ve exhausted all things rugby, Twickenham itself has a lot to offer with its wide range of cuisine and abundant hostelries on the River Thames. Go on – make a day of it!
