Newhaven Fort

A fine example of an English fortification and a award-winning attraction, Newhaven Fort has the sights and sounds of the period, all found in a range of exhibitions and audio-visual presentations.

This scheduled ancient monument tells the story of life in a Victorian Fortress and the on-site military museum demonstrates Newhaven Fort’s role through two World Wars.

Newhaven Fort has thousands of individual objects on display and in store ranging from weapons, uniforms and trench art through to documents, photographs and maps. The Fort library and archive hold an extensive range of books, photographs, maps and other documents such as the Fort census returns up to 1901.
