About this object
Cream setting pan used prior to the invention of mechanical separators. Milk was poured into the pan and then left to sit for 24 to 36 hours to enable the fat globules to coagulate and form cream.

This cream was then skimmed off the underling skim milk with a skimmer.
Medium and Materials
Iron and tinplate with rolled edges. Brand mark on inner base. Pan body constructed in parts with 4 sections attached by overlapping seams. Base welded to sides.
