About this object
Pyrite; a piece of iron pyrite.

Pyrite is an iron sulphide, nicknamed 'fool’s gold' due to its brass yellow hue and metallic lustre resembling gold. Iron-rich minerals in the original rock react with sulphur contained in hydrothermal water to form iron sulphide. This occurs over large areas of the Coromandel Peninsula.
