About this object
This printing press (made in the USA by Kersey & Co) was recovered from a gully near the abandoned settlement where King Tawhiao set up his Parliament at Maungakawa near Cambridge in 1891. A Maori newspaper called "Te Paki O Matariki" - "The Girdle of the Pleiades" was published there until 1902.
