This caravan was built in the late 1940s, between 1947 and 1948. It was designed by Ralph E. Thompson and built in a large shed on the Thompson family property in Invercargill. Used by Ralph and Alice Thompson until the late 1980s, the caravan was purchased for the Otago Settlers Museum in 1994.
