About this object
This photo shows two of the statues from the New Zealand Exhibition in Christchurch (1906-1907) and purchased by William Quinn of Makakihi. Originally there were six figures modelled by Mr J McDonald and cast in plaster and bronzed. After purchasing the figures Mr Quinn stored them on his farm. In 1968 when Mr Quinn's property was sold only one figure was salvageable and put up for auction.
