About this object
This club is similar to a straight sword, with a diamond shaped cross section. The blade of the club however has triangular notches cut out of it, making seventeen triangular points down it on each side. The club has an arrow shaped tip and was worked with metal tools from the sharpness of the edges and shows no sign of use as a weapon.

The handle of the club has an old blue and white label stuck to it with "No. ..., Club from Penrhyn Island". There is also a paper label tied to it with "No. 201, Club, Penrhyn Islands, Grace Collection".

Subject and Association Description
This club came into Te Manawa's collection from the old Palmerston North Museum which functioned from 1906 to 1926. The original museum register shows this was listed as '201 Club from Penrhyn Island, carved'. It was gifted from the W.A. Grace Collection, 9th April 1906.
