About this object
Fitted blouse in brown brushed cotton with a polished cotton lining. Darted front to a point at waist. Inset of copper coloured velvet on upper bodice and around plain round collar, with a large bow of brown ribbon edged with a gold thread. Long two piece sleeve with a small gather at elbow for arm movement, heavy cuff is copper velvet with matching coloured machine lace frill at edge, lining of arms is a striped cotton. Opening down centre front closed with 14 buttons and button holes from waist to bust and then to neck is closed with metal hooks and cotton thread holes. Back is shaped with six panels becoming 'tails' at bottom. Label at neck reads, 'William Rattray 178 . 180 . 182 Queens Street Auckland N.Z.'.
